Did You Know? The Navajo never lived in these ruins! The Anasazi inhabited what is now Navajoland beginning about 2000 years ago. Once a thriving society, the Anasazi disappeared by 1300 AD. It is unknown what caused their disappearance, but it is believed that they are the ancestors of the modern Native Tribes such as the Zuni, Hopi, and Pueblo. You can find evidence of their vast culture in the canyons the crisscross Navajoland.
